Equipment Loan Closet
Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday
9:00 am – 3:00 pm
RCAL provides medical equipment on loan to individuals who cannot afford to buy their own or whose insurance does not cover the cost. We loan out equipment that has been donated to us on a short and long-term basis. Three months is the usual length of time we loan out our equipment; this can always be extended if needed.
Above, Gilles Malkine, Architectural Modification Consultant, displays a bounty of walkers.
In order to take out equipment on loan, you will first need to call to see if we have what you need (we loan out on a first come, first served basis). Then you will have to come in and fill out a Loan Equipment Form. We do ask for a small fee for the use of our equipment; $5 for small items such as walkers, canes, etc. and $10 to $25 for larger items like wheelchairs and ramps. Please note that no person will be denied equipment for a lack of ability to pay this fee.
A partial list of the items RCAL may have available:
- Bath Transfer Benches
- Canes
- Commodes
- Crutches
- Electric Wheelchairs
- Hospital Beds
- Hoyer Lifts
- Portable Ramps
- Raised Toilet Seats
- Shower Seats
- Walkers
- Wheelchairs
If interested in borrowing any of the listed equipment or donating used equipment (including items not listed), please contact RCAL at 331-0541.
If RCAL does not have the equipment you are looking for, visit the Assistive Technology (TRAID) Program website at http://www.getatstuff.com or call them 1-800-624-4143. TRAID-IN is a statewide service that connects people who need equipment with those wanting to donate or sell equipment.
You can also check out www.usedHME.com if you are looking to buy or sell used equipment.
